GALL BLADDER ATTACK!

I'm sure most everyone has heard by now that this past Monday April 20 I had to have my gall bladder removed. I had been having some pain in that region (under the right rib cage) but I thought it was attributed to being pregnant. But, on Friday night the 17th I knew something was up because it was just unbearable. So I went to Womans hospital and that's what the problem was and they said they were going to take it out on Monday. So I was getting ready to go home and they said "By the way we are keeping you here until the surgery." That was very hard for me to stay in a room chained to a bed for 3 nights. I had a morphine pump which I highly reccommend by the way but I was sooooo bored and it was hard for me to sleep. Partly because of pain and partly because of nerves and worry for the baby. I asked if I could be awake for the surgery and just have an epidural but they said that they couldn't numb me that high up on the body so I had to be put under. Now I'm on the mend and feeling much better. A lot of people asked the cause and apparently it was due to elevated estrogen levels from being pregnant that sometimes cause the gall bladder not to empty and it builds up and gets inflamed and causes pain and eventually constant kidney and bladder infections and can damage your liver too. So that's why the benefits of surgery outweighed the risks. Thanks to all of those who called or came by. Thanks for thinking of me and keeping me in your prayers. Baby is fine.. they checked her every few hours in the hospital and before I went home. These are pictures from my point of view when I got REALLY bored.

Glad to hear you are OK. I had to have mine out...but of course, being a boy, I wasn't pregnant. The crazy thing is, my biggest scar from the surgery was from when i pulled the tape off...it had fused to my skin and ripped tons of deep tissue off...haha. I also remember how scary surgery can be while someone is pregnant. Carrie had to have a cyst removed from her ovary when she was 5 months pregnant with Tristan. The surgeon said that Tristan kept kicking her hand while she was trying to cut the cyst out.

Sorry you had to go through all that while being pregnant. It can't be much fun. I hope you're feeling better.
